The Texas Advantage

What do the 1998 Greenhill Champion, 1996 and 1998 Texas UIL 5A State Champions, a 1997 Massachusetts State Finalist and World Debate Finalist, and past NCFL and NFL national champions all have in common?

UTLD!

By selecting the UT program, you will be joining a select group of present and former LD participants that includes the Texas State LD finalists for both UIL and TFA [including a "UT close-out" of the 1998 UIL 5A state final in LD], both NFL and CFL national LD champions, national champions at both the high school and collegiate levels, and a World High School debate finalist. Suffice it to say that the staff and students who have participated in the UT LD program represent some of the best of what forensics has to offer. The Lincoln-Douglas portion of the UTNIF is founded on the belief that championship debaters should have a solid understanding of debate theory, argumentation theory, traditional ethics & philosophy, methods of research, and methods of practice. The LD staff is committed to hands on training, open forums for discussion, and a diversity of topic coverage.

The LD institute will be divided into two segments:

Students wishing to audition for the Advanced Segment should be prepared to debate the NFL National Finals resolution on the opening day of the institute. Auditions will be held on the opening day.
